Last year, The Delaware Readiness Teams surveyed hundreds of community members and asked how they would like to be informed about kindergarten registration. The answer was clear—through community events at local libraries. Armed with this information, the first-ever statewide Kindergarten Registration Campaign, launched in partnership with First Lady Tracey Quillen Carney, included 15+ events held at local libraries, schools, and childcare centers throughout the state.

Over 200 families attended to learn more about the kindergarten registration process in Delaware and receive resources on how to prepare their child(ren) for the transition. The campaign also included the distribution of over 3,000 Kindergarten Information Folders and a proclamation from Governor John Carney, which officially named November as Kindergarten Registration Month in Delaware. Although November is over, the work to promote early kindergarten registration and readiness continues!
New Castle County Executive Matt Meyer continues to promote kindergarten registration through his partnership with the libraries while the Delaware Readiness Teams are preparing for spring kindergarten academies.
“My daughter is officially registered for kindergarten. The website made it easy to learn the process and the kindergarten folders were a great way for me to keep all the paperwork organized. Thank you! I wish I had this for my oldest daughter.”
